Yoga Shelter Hits the Beach

Spring Training and Retreat Offer Reflection, Adventure, Friends and Fun in Sunny Costa Rica

WEST BLOOMFIELD, Mich., Feb. 14, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Crashing waves, howling monkeys, warm breezes and chirping birds. That is the backdrop for yoga classes, zip-lining, hikes and beachside strolls this spring as the Yoga Shelter invites yogis and individuals interested in creating an island in time to reflect and restore to participate in a variety of offerings in Costa Rica.

"Our Trainings are rejuvenating and exploratory and our retreats have historically been the kind of get-aways where people make lifelong friends and have more adventure than they could imagine," says Yoga Shelter founder Eric Paskel. "I'm thrilled that we can offer three great options at Blue Spirit in Costa Rica this year, with the unique Yoga Shelter programming and a landscape that is hard to find anywhere else."

Yoga Shelter will offer its Spring Retreat April 30-May 6, Life Training May 7-11 and Yoga Teacher Training May 11-16. Prices start at $1,300, excluding air and land transportation. All three experiences are guided by Yoga Shelter gurus Eric and Lisa Paskel and Training constitutes 200 hours of RYT certification.

The Retreat will include ocean and infinity pool swimming, horseback riding, breathtaking canopy tours and hikes, private boat rides to exclusive islands, surfing, ziplining and more fun adventure.

"Our Training programs give students focus, a path to follow and a philosophy to live by," says Paskel. "Yoga Shelter Training teaches us how to be experts on our own lives, to become objective, clear, and powerful. Life Training helps us truly live."

Life Training is a stand-alone, life-changing experience that inspires people to live with honesty. Activities include inspirational lectures, relationship-building, action-adventure and more. Participants leave Training with a path and a purpose for integrating the values that are the core of the Yoga Shelter philosophy into everyday living.

Yoga Shelter Teacher Training cements the principles that govern a yogi's life. Yoga Shelter teachers learn to share all that they are, and all that they know, in a dynamic, fun-loving and authentic way. Teacher Training includes instruction on how to: 1. Find your voice, be yourself! 2. Create and carry a universal theme through class. 3. Make physical and verbal adjustments.  4. Use humor, sound bytes, voice inflection and silence. 5. Empower students to take responsibility for their own practice. 6. Create appropriate and inspiring playlists. 7. Construct flows. 8. Tie verbal and physical flows together with music. 9. Use and interpret body language. 10. Evaluate audience. 11. Set environment. 12. Teach the importance of breath. 13. Build a clientele.

Yoga Shelter Training is unique in its approach – this process is not only a path toward teaching yoga; it's a journey to the Self, guided closely in a one-on-one teacher-student relationship.

Yoga Shelter was recently voted Best of Detroit 2011 by Real Detroit Weekly. Also this year, Eric Paskel will speak at the Yoga Journal Midwest Conference in July on social media marketing in a yoga business.

Paskel opened the first Yoga Shelter studio in 2004 in West Bloomfield and has opened a new studio every year since, with locations now in Birmingham, Royal Oak, Grosse Pointe and Los Angeles, serving more than 1 million students and counting. New studios are poised to open this year in several other locations.
