Higher Education IT Project and Portfolio Management Focus of First Annual TeamDynamixHE F2F User Group Meeting

TeamDynamixHE and Customers to Share Best Practices, Innovative Approaches and Growing Role of PPM in Higher Education Success

COLUMBUS, OH--(Marketwire - March 15, 2011) - In an effort to navigate shrinking budgets, higher education institutions across the United States are leveraging project and portfolio management (PPM) processes and applications to improve project planning, prioritization and success. It is with this focus that college and university leaders who use TeamDynamixHE for PPM have organized the first annual TeamDynamixHE F2F User Group Meeting in Las Vegas, March 17-18, 2011 on the campus of University of Nevada, Las Vegas. The meeting is sponsored and presented by the TeamDynamixHE Advisory Council (TAC), the governance body for TeamDynamixHE software and services comprised of project management leaders at leading institutions. The two-day event will feature presentations on PPM best practices, portfolio planning and innovative approaches to project planning, which will help higher education leaders to prioritize projects, create transparency for administrators and mitigate risks.

"The principles of project and portfolio management have never been more important to the higher education industry and IT professionals working at universities and colleges across the country," said Patrick Bennett, co-chair of the TeamDynamixHE Advisory Council. "The F2F User Group Meeting will provide a unique opportunity to learn how several industry leaders are leveraging PPM principles and the TeamDynamixHE solution to get things done on time and on budget."

Registration is currently open to higher education IT professionals who use TeamDynamixHE at faculty.unlv.edu.

Among the presentations during the two-day event include the following:

  • Implementation Approaches: Top Down vs. Bottom Up (Clay Fulton, Carnegie Mellon and Glenda Ranallo, Syracuse University)
  • Portfolio Planning (Patrick Bennett, Franklin University)
  • Reporting (Bruce Bills, BYU-Idaho)
  • Roundtable Discussions: Project Management Methodologies and Strategic Direction

"TeamDynamixHE is dedicated to working with the industry to advance PPM across campuses," said Glenda Ranallo, co-chair of the TeamDynamixHE Advisory Council. "The ability to plan, track and manage IT projects and resources through a standardized solution, particularly in the face of shrinking budgets and rising student populations, is critical to colleges and universities."

"As an advocate of PPM in higher education, one of our goals is to find ways to bring leaders and innovators together to discuss industry innovations and challenges, which is the genesis behind our first ever user group meeting," said Andrew Graf, principal analyst with TeamDynamixHE. "Our TAC is the first of its kind, and affords us the opportunity to get first-hand experiences and knowledge that we need to continually improve our technology. The user group meeting is an extension of this ongoing industry interaction, and will hopefully translate into peer-to-peer collaboration that will help our users and advance the use of PPM processes on campus."
