National Animal Supplement Council Honors Industry Leaders for Improving the Standards of Animal Health Supplements

VALLEY CENTER, CA--(Marketwire - May 19, 2011) - National Animal Supplement Council (NASC) hosted its inaugural Awards Dinner at its Annual Conference on May 12, in San Diego. Fifteen deserving companies and individuals were honored for making an impact and going above and beyond in their commitment to quality, education and improving the standards of the animal health supplement industry.

Susan Domizi, president and founder of Source Inc., was presented with a Lifetime Achievement award for her unselfish dedication and major contributions to the animal health supplement industry.

"Susan has been involved in the issues surrounding our industry long before NASC was formed," says Bill Bookout, president of NASC. "She really epitomizes the values NASC shares with its members and has been one of the industry's strongest advocates."

PETCO received a Superior Partnership Award for leading the way in education about animal health supplements in the retail channel. Through point-of-purchase signage and online visibility, PETCO educates its consumers about the NASC Quality Seal and has made a commitment to support audited companies that have earned the NASC Quality Seal.

Pharmore Ingredients and TSI Inc. both received a MVP Supplier Award in recognition of their commitment to quality, education and continuously improving the standards of the animal health supplement industry starting at the ingredient level.

Eleven NASC audited member companies received a Visibility Award for efforts above and beyond in promoting the goals of NASC and the NASC Quality Seal in all aspects of their business. The recipients included: Arenus, BOMAC Vets Plus Inc., Food Science Corporation, The Garmon Corporation, Genesis Limited, Grand Meadows Nutritional Products Inc., In Clover, Med-Vet Pharmaceuticals, Nutri-Vet, Response Products and Silver Lining Herbs.

As part of the awards ceremony, a special presentation by Deborah Shinner, executive director of REINS Therapeutic Horsemanship Program was given to NASC members. REINS is ranked in the top 2 percent of North America Riding for the Handicapped Association programs nationwide. The Southern California-based nonprofit has a unique approach to therapy for people with disabilities using horses as the primary tool.
