CAMBRIDGE, MA--(Marketwire - May 23, 2011) - On June 1, the MIT Enterprise Forum of Cambridge will present an Innovation Series event: "Offshore Wind in New England: Lessons Learned, the Way Forward," which will feature an illustrious panel moderated by Ian Bowles, the former Massachusetts Secretary of Energy and Environmental Affairs.
The Northeast coast of the United States is one of the world's premier opportunities for offshore wind energy -- offering over a thousand miles of coastline with a wide continental shelf on one side and major population centers on the other. Offshore wind technology continues to advance. However, as experienced by Nantucket Sound's Cape Wind, the first major offshore site in the United States, the challenges are political and social as well as economic. Join the MIT Enterprise Forum of Cambridge's wind development experts to discuss the prospects, challenges and future of offshore wind technology.
