LITTLE ROCK, Ark., June 15, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Please join representatives of Better Community Development, Inc. (BCD, Inc.) as they break ground on the EmPowerment Center, a new, state-of-the-art, LEED Certified facility in Little Rock, Arkansas, at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, June 17, 2011.
BCD, Inc. will be joined by State Representative Darren Williams, D-Little Rock, who was instrumental in advancing the project to this point, representatives from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the Arkansas Development Finance Authority, and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas (FHLB Dallas). FHLB Dallas provided two grants totaling nearly $624,000 to assist BCD, Inc. with the construction of two residential housing facilities within the EmPowerment Center.
The environmentally green EmPowerment Center will be a safe haven for those in need of addiction treatment. The 25,000-square-foot complex will include residential housing facilities with 30 rooms for special needs individuals and 24 treatment beds for individuals enrolled in substance addiction treatment. It will also house office space, conference rooms, and classrooms where it will provide its residents with life skills, career and technology training, community programs, and other empowerment services.
