"Not only is Chicago an official sister city of Toronto, it's a truly inspirational place. I spent a bunch of memorable times there during my career as a musician, and I've interviewed many outstanding artists who call Chicago home," said Ghomeshi. "With our radio listeners steadily growing in the US, I enjoyed broadcasting live in the Windy City to directly interact with this new fan base."
Guests who joined Q at the Victory Gardens Biograph Theater were Saturday Night Live head writer Seth Meyers (who recently made headlines with his speech to the 2011 White House Correspondents' Dinner), Chicago blues master Lonnie Brooks, Academy Award©-nominated, Chicago-based documentary film maker Steve James, Scottish-born contemporary author Irvine Welsh (Trainspotting) and the standup comedian Jeffrey Ross (known for his celebrity roasts).
This is the latest live-on-the-road broadcast for Q. Hot off the heels of a successful live show from New York City, Q has also traveled to Winnipeg, Montreal and Vancouver this year. Additional live shows will be announced in the Fall season.
Q is an energetic, daily arts, culture and entertainment magazine that takes listeners on a smart and surprising ride, interviewing personalities and tackling the cultural issues that matter. With Ghomeshi's trademark wit and spontaneity, Q covers pop culture and high arts alike with forays into the most provocative and compelling cultural trends.
In a partnership with PRI, Q is now broadcast in over a dozen select American cities such as Austin, Tampa, Louisville, Chicago and Salt Lake City. Q can be heard in Chicago on WBEZ 91.5FM Monday - Thursday at 8 p.m. For more information visit www.cbc.ca/q/.
