EDISON, NJ--(Marketwire - Jul 6, 2011) - 'Out-of-Band' authentication and anti-keylogging measures are central elements in the updated FFIEC Guidelines governing "Authentication in an Internet Banking Environment," demonstrating that StrikeForce Technologies' (
The new FFIEC guidelines call for a "system of layered security" that offers "multi-factor authentication to business customers" and leverages "Out-of-Band verification for transactions." StrikeForce Technologies' ProtectID 'Out-of-Band' authentication software product and GuardedID anti-malware software product provide multiple layers of security through 'Out-of-Band' authentication that leverages multiple communications paths and devices, and keystroke encryption which renders keylogging malware ineffective without relying on signature-based identification of any kind.
FFIEC now emphasizes the increased role that keylogging malware is playing in stealing user credentials in order to defeat existing authentication solutions. The agency identifies that existing anti-malware solutions, generally part of anti-virus solutions, are ineffective because "anti-malware is signature based, and some advanced versions of malware continuously alter their signature." FFIEC also recommends 'Out-of-Band' authentication using multiple devices because "'Out-of-Band' authentication directed to or input through the same device that initiates the transaction may not be effective since that device may have been compromised" by keylogging malware.
"The FFIEC's security update validates that our solution approach is the path forward not only for the banking industry, but for any organization that must protect users, sensitive data, and intellectual property from cyber attack," says Mark Kay, CEO, for StrikeForce Technologies.
StrikeForce's ProtectID solution represents the latest in protection for authenticating website access for consumers, providing transaction verification for high risk transactions and money movement, and for authenticating remote access for employees and partners. StrikeForce's GuardedID is a powerful anti-malware solution that prevents data loss and credential theft through white list creation and encrypting website and remote VPN access, as examples.
