Green Goals for Loading Dock Doors: New Compression Door Seals Promote Green and Sustainable Warehousing From IDA, WVSN Reports

DETROIT, MI--(Marketwire - Jul 26, 2011) - Loading dock doors are a constant source of energy loss that must be corrected for green and sustainable operations; this is according to the IDA (International Door Association). With sky rocketing energy costs, commercial building and industrial plant managers are ramping up energy efficiency efforts in their shipping and receiving areas. Loading docks have varying degrees of use, from an occasional truck being loaded in smaller operations, to major distribution centers where arrivals and departures are an ongoing event 24 hours daily.

In a recent appearance on the "Open Door Show" from Industry Visions presented by the IDA, Bill Reitmeyer, Operations Manager for ABC Docks (www.aaronbradley.com) discussed the growing efforts of door dealers across the nation to correct the problem. "If there is anything the recent economic downturn has taught American business it's the old adage I grew up with 'Waste Not Want Not.' ABC Docks has experienced a recent surge in sales of compression door seals by our dealer network across the country. Even smaller operations with less loading dock traffic are growing. Compression dock seals allow the trailer to fit tightly to a building so that during the loading/unloading process, outside air is sealed off and inside air is kept inside. The energy savings can be incredible! Although statistics have not been widely captured it is a known fact that these savings are typically significant and this certainly affords a much quicker ROI.

"We want our door dealers to know there is a tremendous opportunity servicing the needs of loading docks, and at ABC Docks it's more than just energy savings. We provide an entire line of safety products as well. Trailer restraint systems, safety lighting, dock bumpers and generally everything a building owner requires for loading dock equipment -- we supply to our door dealers. What's most important is our dedication to training and service to our door dealer network. As an example, we have had door companies that once thought safety equipment for the loading dock was beyond their core competence of business. Through our training efforts at ABC Docks, our door dealers have an enormous opportunity in the sale of loading dock safety equipment.

"At the end of the day it's about building strong relationships with our door dealer network. Our success at ABC Docks is dependent on our dealers' success and that is why building these relationships is so important to us. Knowing they have a choice in providers of dock equipment, it is our promise that we will serve them as we would our own family."
