CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwire - Aug 19, 2011) - The Illinois Fatherhood Initiative (IFI) today announced it has partnered with TrueCare.com to launch programs to educate their members on managing and monitoring kids' social media activity. The partnership is an inventive approach to spreading awareness and solutions for safe social networking in families. IFI will utilize the partnership to provide fathers with cost-effective resources and solutions to effectively oversee their kids' social media use as well as a fundraising opportunity to help fund organizational objectives as well -- a winning collaboration.
"TrueCare has made it easy for us to educate our fathers on concerns around social networking including inappropriate postings, bullying, or oversharing personal information," said Kevin Kirberg, President of the Illinois Fatherhood Initiative. "They also offer great resources on social networking including best practices and keyword guides as well as interactive ways to communicate rules and expectations within the home -- timely and relevant information we know is needed among families and we are thrilled to be able to deliver it to them."
TrueCare is an Internet-based service that sends parents automatic email alerts that may provide an early warning of potentially concerning or dangerous online "friends," photos or posts within their child's social networking accounts like Facebook, Twitter, My Space and more. Through the service, TrueCare helps parents protect their children 24/7 -- no matter where children access their social network accounts -- at home, a friend's house or even their cell phones.
The Illinois Fatherhood Initiative is a statewide organization working to connect fathers and children through work in schools, healthcare, and the workplace. Among its programs include the annual Fatherhood Essay Contest "What My Father Means to Me" for children in grades K-12, the Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) school-father involvement program, and the Boot Camp for New Dads program in hospitals.
The Illinois Fatherhood Initiative will receive a portion of the proceeds from the service every month to further the many missions of their organization.
"By utilizing TrueCare.com's monitoring service, fathers can be assured their children's social media activities are under continuous scrutiny," states Vince Mazza, Executive Vice President of TrueCare.com and single father. "TrueCare.com gives parents the confidence of knowing they're actively working to educate and protect their children against the online dangers of predators, cyber bullying and potentially harmful posts or photos which could damage their reputation."
