Air Force Research Laboratory selects mZeal Communications to develop an IPv6 security system

Fitchburg, MA, Oct. 11, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- mZeal Communications announced that it has been awarded a $748,444 contract with the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) SBIR Phase II to develop a security system for the IPv4 to IPv6 transition. This contract enables mZeal to development "Expert Validation of IPv4-6 Security in Transitional Areas (EVISTA)" into a viable commercial product.  Working with their experienced engineers, and extensive knowledge of security design, mZeal is confident in the abilities to effectively develop EVISTA, a robust IPV6 security solution.

A compelling case can be made for the implementation of IPv6, a replacement for the hugely successful but limited IPv4 protocol.  Although the adoption of IPv6 has been slower than expected, it is anticipated that the IPv4 address space will be exhausted sometime between 2010 and 2012, which is likely to accelerate its adoption.  Furthermore, it is an important step, as IPv6 is already in use. Most network equipment and operating systems created in the last several years are IPv6 capable. The need for a security tool to assist in IPv4-v6 transitional environments is clear.

This is where EVISTA can excel. The objective of the EVISTA project is to create an intelligent software solution designed to aid users and administrators in addressing their security concerns during the IPv4 to IPv6 transition phase. The capabilities of EVISTA, among others, will combine to make EVISTA a compelling addition to any enterprise’s suite of security tools as we enter the age of IPv6.
