ORLANDO, FL--(Marketwire - Oct 11, 2011) - SNW -- The Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) is pleased to announce its 2012 Board of Directors and Technical Council during the SNW Fall 2011 conference being held in Orlando, Florida. SNIA's voting member company representatives elected the Board and Technical Council. The results were announced and new terms began with the October 5th All Members' Annual Meeting. Both groups convened meetings preceding SNW where officers were elected and the Executive Committee of the Board was announced. The SNIA Board is charged with oversight of the Association's vision and mission as well as ensuring that tangible value accrues to member companies.

SNIA's Technical Council is responsible for providing guidance and direction on the varied technical activities of the Association. The Technical Council elected its Chairman, Don Deel of EMC and its Vice Chairman, Leah Schoeb of VMware.

The SNIA Technical Council manages the development efforts of the Association and ensures that they are on-track and on-target while looking for new opportunities like software development, cloud and green storage to expand the SNIA's efforts and provide additional value to the industry and customers. The Council works closely with the Board of Directors and other SNIA bodies in planning and executing technical activities, governs the Technical Working Groups, reviews and approves all SNIA architectures and standards, and serves as a technical resource for all SNIA activities, including its role as technical program committee for the SNIA's standout Storage Developer Conference.
