SPRINGFIELD, Ohio, Oct. 25, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Effective October 1, 2011, Konecranes Chile, Morris Chile Ltda and Gruas Koman, were unified into a single organization, Konecranes Chile SpA, supplying cranes, technical and maintenance services, spare parts and lifting equipment.
Since the early 1990s, Konecranes has been active in Chile through a licensee agreement with Koman Gruas. The company was founded in 1978, specializing in industrial overhead cranes, maintenance services and parts, serving customers in Chile, Peru and Bolivia. Through this relationship, a strong presence of Konecranes equipment has been established in process industries as well as general manufacturing and mining. In January of this year, Konecranes acquired Gruas Koman, an operating entity holding the Koman Gruas assests.
In 2006, Konecranes acquired Morris Material Handling Chile Ltda, which had been operating in Chile since 1998. The company's original history in Chile dates back to 1917 due to its association with the P&H® brand of overhead crane. P&H® is a registered trademark of Harnischfeger Technologies Inc. and is used by Morris Material Handling, Inc. under license. Morris Material Handling, Inc. is not affiliated with Harnischfeger Technologies Inc. or P&H Mining Equipment Inc.
To complete the unification by bringing all head office operations into one location, Konecranes has relocated to a new facility located at Manuel Rodriguez 72 Parque Industrial Los Libertadores, Colina – Santiago.
The unification of Konecranes, Morris Chile Ltda and Gruas Koman provides an excellent opportunity for Konecranes to expand their services to customers in Chile, Peru, Argentina and other Spanish-speaking countries in South America. This press release is available at our website www.konecranes.cl
