CLEVELAND, Nov. 10, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Non-profit organizations Purple Heart Homes, Inc. and Purple America together are encouraging Americans to remember the shared values that unite us as one nation and are represented by the service of America's veterans, the groups' founders say.
Purple Heart Homes was founded by Iraq combat-wounded veterans Dale Beatty and John Gallina, who were both injured November 15, 2004 when the vehicle they were riding in hit an anti-tank mine that exploded resulting in Beatty becoming a double amputee. Gallina suffered severe head and back injuries. Both returned home with a different worldview and wanted to make life easier for those injured who served in all conflicts. Purple Heart Homes provides personalized housing solutions for Service Connected Disabled Veterans.
Purple America, founded by Stuart Muszynski, exists to re-connect America with its non-partisan, deep-rooted values. Both organizations encourage Americans from all walks of life to Re-Imagine America® with respect for the values that connect us and form our common ground.
"There is no single group of individuals that better represents the values that make America great than its veterans," Muszynski says, "and the most remarkable among them are Dale Beatty and John Gallina. Their relentless commitment to building barrier-free living solutions to improve the lives of disabled veterans, and their generous spirits, are an inspiration to us all at a time when America needs their example of true leadership."
Dale Beatty, co-founder of Purple Heart Homes, says, "We were taught by our military leaders how to work as a team and leave no one behind on the battlefield. As we come together to honor and thank our veterans for their service to our country, let us leave no one behind and remember why we fight to defend and protect the fundamental values of our nation.
Purple America's Re-Imagine America campaign encourages civil discourse and national unity by exploring the common set of values widely shared across America. The 12 values are: Equality, Faith, Family, Freedom, Love and Respect, Self-Expression, Doing the Right Thing, Community, Giving Back, the Good Life, Opportunity and Success. Purple America is a national initiative of Project Love® Remember the Children Foundation, a character-building program that has trained more than 50,000 American teens and 2,000 educators to build a culture of kindness, caring and respect in their schools.
