The two companies have agreed to develop and market a biomedical communication system for vehicle use in the Mineral and Resources sectors throughout Australia and the Asia-Pacific region. The agreement provides Exmovere with sales, marketing and distribution support – exclusively through Gencom – throughout Australasia in the Mineral and Resources sectors.
The new biometric drowsiness system – built into a vehicle's steering wheel and driver seat – will automatically signal a driver and central dispatch service when the driver exhibits signs of drowsiness or fatigue. The risk of falling asleep while driving is especially perilous not just for large equipment and truck drivers but also light vehicles in the Mineral and Resources sectors. Large payloads of valuable cargo, expensive equipment and driver's lives can all be put at risk due to drowsiness and fatigue among drivers.
Exmovere Holdings, Inc. brings its expertise in developing biofeedback applications in the auto sector to this marketplace with the new product. The planned device will be integrated into vehicle steering wheels and will capture a driver's ECG (electrocardiogram), skin temperature, galvanic skin response, and torque while the vehicle is moving. The new steering wheel will collect the data non-invasively through the driver's grip on the wheel. Exmovere's proprietary algorithms for interpreting biomedical data – a significant part of the company's intellectual property – will be used to interpret the data as it's collected.
Alternative reporting and signaling capabilities will also be built into the steering wheel, including connecting with a vehicle's two-way radio and a driver's smartphone or other mobile, wireless device. Alarms and alerts will be sent as problems or causes for concern come up. By collecting, interpreting and reporting these critical biomedical data in real time, the new Exmovere steering wheel provides a way to signal drivers and dispatchers when drowsiness or other problems need to be addressed. The premise behind the new steering wheel will be to help prevent accidents, equipment damage and possible loss of life within the industry.
Gencom (General Communications Pty Ltd) is the largest two-way radio communications company in New South Wales, Australia. Based in Newcastle, the company is known for its communication networks and expertise in designing and delivering both analog and digital communication systems. The Hunter Valley region of NSW is part of the company's customer and service base in the Mineral and Resources sector. By reaching agreement with Gencom to co-develop the new biometric drowsiness monitoring system, Exmovere will be able to rely on the strength of Gencom's networks to communicate with drivers as their biomedical conditions change.
