SAN RAMON, CA--(Marketwire - Dec 15, 2011) - WANdisco, a leading provider of Apache Subversion based software and services for the enterprise, and a major corporate sponsor of the Subversion project, has announced an update to uberSVN, the open ALM platform for Apache Subversion. uberSVN is an award-winning platform from WANdisco that comes integrated with the unique uberAPPS app store, and includes Subversion's first ever social coding capabilities.
uberSVN 11.12 marks a major update to the uberAPPS store, which enables one-stop shopping and assembly of software development lifecycle apps for Subversion. This release makes it easier to quickly add more apps to the uberAPPS store, and adds the ability to make installed apps visible or invisible, on a per-user basis. Other key enhancements, include:
- A more helpful screen when uberSVN is unable to connect to the uberAPPS store.
- Repository support for anonymous reading. When enabled, the repository can be accessed/read without the need to authenticate.
- The option to switch to and from the latest version of Subversion -- version 1.7.2 -- with the innovative SVNswitch tool.
WANdisco has also announced the codenaming strategy for uberSVN. Apple name their releases after big cats (Mac OS X Snow Leopard, Lion etc) and Google name their releases after desserts (Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich, etc) but since uberSVN is developed entirely in Sheffield, UK, WANdisco has decided to show their support for the local area by naming all of their uberSVN releases after local pubs. uberSVN 11.12 is codenamed 'Blake' after the Blake Hotel and pub, in Walkley, Sheffield. This further strengthens uberSVN's ties with the local area, after it was awarded the prestigious Made in Sheffield mark earlier this year.
