Two Artificial Turf Installations by Medallion Earn National Awards From ASBA

MOORESVILLE, N.C., Jan. 5, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Each year, the American Sports Builders Association recognizes excellence in construction at U.S. sports venues. Among the latest ASBA award winners are two North Carolina sports venues with fields that were installed by Medallion Athletic Products, a leading supplier and installer of indoor and outdoor athletic and recreational surfaces in the Southeastern United States.

ASBA, the national organization for builders, designers and suppliers of materials for athletic facilities, honors newly built and renovated U.S. athletics facilities by ASBA members. Projects are scored by a panel of ASBA members based on layout and design, site work, drainage, base construction, surface, amenities, innovation and overall impression. Winners' cumulative scores meet or exceed ASBA standards.

The Medallion installations that were honored in 2011 were:

  • UNC Charlotte's Northeast Recreational Field Complex, Charlotte, N.C., which received the Distinguished Multi Field Facility award. The university installed six Mondoturf artificial turf fields manufactured by Mondo, the global leader in the sports flooring market.

  • High Point University's Vert Track, Soccer & Lacrosse Stadium, High Point, N.C., which received the Distinguished Single Field Facility award. The university also installed a Mondoturf artificial turf field manufactured by Mondo.

Medallion is the authorized dealer for Mondo sports flooring in the Carolinas.

This marks the third consecutive year that installations by Medallion, which also manufactures and installs MAXPLAY, its own artificial grass system, have been honored by ASBA. Previous award winners were Spartanburg (S.C.) High School (2010) and Mooresville (N.C.) High School (2009).

"Medallion's entire team takes great pride in the excellence of the products we offer our clients, and in the superior quality of our installations," said Matt Broughton, president, Medallion Athletic Products. "These awards recognize the ongoing, outstanding quality of our construction projects."
