WHY: United Way of the Lower Mainland reveals 2011 fundraising results; presents Celebration of Community and several other awards.

Approximately 600 people will gather on Thursday, 29^th of March, at the Westin Bayshore Vancouver to honour the thousands of volunteers and donors from many lower mainland workplaces who supported the 2011 United Way Campaign.

Campaign Co-chair, Debra Hewson (President and CEO, Odlum Brown Ltd.) will announce this year's campaign total. Funds raised will go towards supporting partnerships and prevention-based programs to address key social issues such as poverty, bullying and seniors' social isolation.

Two Lower Mainland social service agencies will be recognized with a Celebration of Community Award presented by Scotiabank. The Celebration of Community Award recognizes community supports that respond in innovative ways to changing social conditions.
