IRVINE, CA--(Marketwire - Mar 30, 2012) - Governor Jerry Brown announced yesterday that he has appointed Orange County Business Council (OCBC) President and CEO Lucy Dunn to serve a four year term on the California Transportation Commission (CTC), subject to confirmation by the State Senate. This will be her second term, having been appointed by the previous administration in 2008. Ms. Dunn has been a tireless advocate for local, regional and statewide mobility choices, accountability and funding.
"I am honored to receive this appointment from Governor Brown, and to continue the good work that has been accomplished by the Commission over the past four years," said Dunn. "California's economic prosperity is inextricably linked to a well-maintained and well-funded transportation network that includes environmental stewardship. I look forward to continuing this work in support of the administration's goals ensuring that California's transportation needs are met now, and in the future."
The CTC has implemented innovative statewide policies related to public-private partnerships, design-build project delivery, and streamlining of transportation funding programs that have helped create jobs and improve the state's economy.
The CTC is responsible for programming and allocating funds for the construction of highway, passenger rail and transit improvements throughout California. The Commission also assists in formulating and evaluating state policies and plans for California's transportation programs and is an active participant in the initiation and development of State and Federal legislation that seeks to secure financial stability for the State's transportation needs.
In addition to her service on the CTC, Dunn has been President and CEO of OCBC since 2005 and was previously Director of the California Department of Housing and Community Development from 2004 to 2005. She served as a member of the Green Building Code Advisory Committee of the California Building and Standards Commission. In 2010, South Coast AQMD appointed her to its Small Business Advisory Committee, and in 2011 to its Advisory Committee to develop the Air Quality Management Plan for the basin. Lucy is an attorney admitted to practice before the California State Bar, the federal bar and the U.S. Supreme Court.
