Profil Institute Assembles Team of Nearly 40 Cyclists for American Diabetes Association's Tour de Cure in San Diego on April 21

Profil Institute's 8th Year as a Corporate Sponsor of ADA's Fund-raising Event

SAN DIEGO, April 12, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Profil Institute for Clinical Research, Inc., a company leading the industry in early phase clinical trials for diabetes and obesity, comes out in full force for the American Diabetes Association's Tour de Cure each year as a corporate sponsor and also organizer of a team of nearly 40 cyclists – the Profil Peddlers – each fund-raising a minimum of $200 for the event.

Profil Peddler participants are people from all walks of life, many of whom are afflicted by diabetes or supporting others with diabetes and many of whom are employees of the organizer Profil Institute for Clinical Research, headquartered in Chula Vista.  What they have in common is a goal of raising as much money as possible to support the American Diabetes Association and to make a difference in the lives of diabetic patients and their families.

"It's really a spectacular experience to be part of this team, and what often feels like a family, that is working toward the common goal of helping others.  By making a difference in others' lives, we end up experiencing a positive impact in our own," said Carmen Jany-O, Profil Peddler team captain and Profil Peddler herself since 2010. "As a team we have raised over $10,000 for this year's event."

This year's Tour de Cure will take place Saturday, April 21 beginning at Torrey Pines High School.  The Tour de Cure, a fund-raising event with cyclists participating in routes of 10 to 100 miles, attracts more than 55,000 cyclists in 80 events nationwide and raised more than $18 million last year.  Funds raised are used to support the mission of the American Diabetes Association to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by the disease.

"Profil Institute is a supporter of the American Diabetes Association in every manner possible.  We have the common goal of advancing research to eradicate diabetes," said Claus Hakenesch, Profil Institute's CFO, Tour de Cure Committee member, and a Profil Peddler. "The Tour de Cure is really a spectacular event and is our opportunity to sponsor and volunteer for an event benefiting the American Diabetes Association while training and cycling side by side with the very people for whom our clinical research will hopefully make a significant impact."
