LEHI, UT--(Marketwire - Apr 30, 2012) - Lingotek | The Translation Network and leader in collaborative translation solutions, announced today that the Lingotek Collaborative Translation Platform will be available in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) GovCloud (US) Region, enabling United States government agencies and contractors to translate workloads in an open cloud environment that also complies with export control regulations limiting access to U.S. persons.
A number of government agencies are subject to export control regulations that stipulate that only U.S. persons can physically and logically access data. AWS GovCloud (US) couples regulatory compliance with the built-in benefits of the cloud, including scalability and ease of deployment. Government agencies can harness the elastic resources of AWS GovCloud (US) for their data and analytics needs rather than maintaining their infrastructure on-premise.
Lingotek has long been using AWS as its primary online Infrastructure-as-a-Service. A highly elastic platform, AWS is well-suited for the computer-assisted translation process, which requires on-demand analytics to work with large amounts of data.
"AWS enables Lingotek to accelerate its data migration, greatly expand its testing capabilities, and serve a large customer base by doing more with less resources," said Teresa Carlson, Vice President of AWS Worldwide Public Sector. "Government agencies of all sizes and capacities are facing another year of budget cuts. With AWS GovCloud (US), they now have similar abilities to run advanced, agile operations on the cloud in an export-controlled environment, better serving their constituents."
Lingotek will be providing best-in-class machine translation solutions, real-time community translations and professional translation services inside AWS GovCloud (US). Government agencies can streamline their translation process and reduce costs, with regulatory compliance already assured.
"Lingotek in AWS GovCloud (US) lets government agencies safely implement their data-intensive translation workloads in the open cloud, as well as deploy and scale projects on demand," said Aaron Davis, CTO, Lingotek. "Agencies will be equipped to build an ever-larger corpus of translation, with widespread potential to both reduce costs and enable them to excel at their missions."
Through Lingotek's Collaborative Translation Platform, government customers can access Lingotek's crowdsourced, professional or machine translations in real-time, quickly and cost-effectively translating all forms of content, from government public-facing websites to externally disseminated document, email to the millions of foreign social media posts and tweets.
