WAYNE, PA and PHILADELPHIA, PA--(Marketwire - May 3, 2012) - Medecision, Inc., the leading provider of healthcare management solutions, today announced that Katherine Schneider, MD, M.Phil., will join the company as Chief Medical Officer, effective May 29, 2012. Widely known throughout the industry for her innovation in accessible healthcare and accountable care solutions, Dr. Schneider will be responsible for building on Medecision's solid 23-year foundation, leading the company forward in its quest to become the gold-standard pioneer in care management solutions.
Deborah M. Gage, Medecision president and CEO, made the announcement to an audience of chief medical officers and clinical leadership, senior IT leaders, and care management executives from progressive U.S. health plans and healthcare provider organizations as they convened at the company's exclusive, invitation-only event -- "Client Forum 2012: Strike the Balance" -- at the Four Seasons Hotel in Philadelphia.

Prior to joining Medecision, Dr. Schneider served as the senior vice president for Health Engagement at AtlantiCare, where she led the system's strategic transformational work toward accountable care. In her previous position at Middlesex Health System in Connecticut, Dr. Schneider was active in pilot projects, redesigning primary care as a patient-centered medical home, including Medicare's Physician Group Practice demonstration project.
Dr. Schneider earned a BA in biochemistry at Smith College and a master's degree in Epidemiology and an MD at Columbia University. She completed her residency training in Family Medicine at Middlesex Hospital.
Dr. Schneider currently serves on the National Advisory Council to the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ).
