LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga., May 6, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Russell Ridge Animal Hospital, a full-service veterinary hospital and boarding facility, encourages pet owners to "plan ahead" when it comes to summer pet boarding services. According to veterinarian Dr. Brad Miller, summer is one of the clinic's most popular times for pet boarding, second only to the Christmas and Thanksgiving holidays. Available boarding slots can fill quickly, and once pet owners have made travel plans, they should contact the veterinary hospital to reserve boarding space.
With summer vacation approaching, Russell Ridge Animal Hospital in Lawrenceville, GA is encouraging pet owners to make their boarding reservations as early as possible. "Summer, including holiday weekends like Memorial Day weekend and July 4th weekend, is one of our busiest times," said veterinarian Dr. Brad Miller. "In order to provide quality, compassionate care to our boarded cats and dogs, we can only accept a limited number of pets. Consequently, we are encouraging pet owners make their boarding reservations as soon as possible, especially for popular holiday weekends."
According to Dr. Miller, pet boarding is often a safer and more affordable choice than taking a pet along on a family vacation or paying a neighbor to care for a pet.
"While no one likes to leave their pet at home, boarding at a veterinary hospital ensures that pets receive the care and personal attention they need," said Dr. Miller. "At our boarding facility, they enjoy the companionship of our compassionate staff and other animals. Pet owners can also enjoy peace of mind knowing that in the event of a health emergency, the veterinarian is just steps away."
All boarded pets must be up to date on mandatory veterinary vaccinations and pet wellness care. Mandatory canine vaccinations are Rabies, Distemper, Bordetella, and Canine Influenza. For cats, Rabies and Distemper vaccinations are required. A vaccination record, along with proof of a negative fecal sample, must be submitted prior to boarding. Pets that are also patients at the animal hospital will not need to submit any paperwork.
Upon admittance to boarding, all pets are given a complimentary pet wellness care physical to check for fleas or flea dirt. This helps ensure that the vet clinic's boarding facility remains flea-free. If any fleas are found, pets will be promptly treated in accordance with the vet clinic's guidelines.
The boarding facility provides pads, blankets and toys. Dogs receive exercise time in the fenced yard, as well as three daily walks. Science Diet Sensitive Stomach food is available at no extra charge for boarded pets.
Russell Ridge Animal Hospital is part of the Georgia Veterinary Associate's network of animal vet hospitals. The veterinary clinic provides comprehensive pet wellness care, vaccinations, spay/neuter operations, and veterinary surgical procedures for the communities of Lawrenceville, Dacula, Buford, and Suwanee.
