NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - May 9, 2012) - Information Builders, a leader in business intelligence (BI), information integrity, and integration solutions, today announced a strong first quarter. During the quarter Information Builders increased revenue, expanded into new global regions, continued to lead the market in customer-facing BI, unveiled new product features, and garnered recognition from the industry and leading analyst firms alike.
Revenue
Information Builders' North American license revenues for its WebFOCUS BI platform and iWay Software integration suite were up nearly 33 percent in Q1 2012 from Q1 2011. Internationally, the company's license revenue experienced an 8.7 percent year-over-year increase. Information Builders' global markets reported a total software revenue increase of 4.7 percent over Q1 2011 and in North America this figure grew by 18.4 percent.
Customer-Facing BI
Improving customer loyalty and satisfaction by extending BI data externally is a growing industry trend and, in Q1 2012, Information Builders continued to cement its market-leading position in this area. The company signed a new customer agreement with iovation, a reputation and fraud management solutions company using WebFOCUS to give users real-time access to business-critical information. By incorporating BI capabilities into its software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution, iovation is enabling its clients to perform complex queries on metrics such as transaction details, device histories, suspicious website visitors, and online threats. Additional examples of organizations using Information Builders' solutions to extend data analysis externally include the Pennsylvania State Police Department (PSP), which created a portal giving police officers and citizens access to crime data in real time, helping the community better monitor crime as a result; yearbook publisher Walsworth, which is accelerating its processes by giving customers access to its WebFOCUS-based reporting portal containing details on the status of printing jobs, page submissions, proofs, and deadlines; and DealerTrack, a provider of software and services for the automotive industry, using external-facing data dashboards to help dealers identify the best clients, recognize up-sell opportunities, and run their back offices as efficiently as possible.
Product Enhancement
Q1 2012 also saw the unveiling of Information Builders' WebFOCUS Hyperstage, a high-speed, column-oriented data store designed to process large data sets faster. The query-optimized Hyperstage is embedded directly into the WebFOCUS environment, uses intelligent analytics to accelerate the speed and efficiency of applications that handle high frequencies of ad hoc or unplanned queries, as well as those that consume large volumes of data. Information Builders has further product enhancements planned for the coming months to help its customers meet the challenges posed by big data.
Global Expansion
Information Builders continued to expand in global markets during Q1 2012. As of the end of January 2012, WebFOCUS had been implemented by more than 1,000 companies in Japan. Information Builders also celebrated an expansion into Singapore, Malaysia, India, and Indonesia. The company also expanded its coverage in South Africa and opened numerous new accounts across its geographic regions.
Awards and Accolades
The industry recognition that Information Builders received in Q1 2012 included the company's ranking as a leader in Gartner's "Magic Quadrant for Business Intelligence Platforms." The company was also honored for its continued commitment to customer service, receiving three bronze awards for its customer service team at the sixth annual Stevie Awards for Sales and Customer Service.
"Numerous analyst firms have predicted that the BI industry will experience significant growth as organizations are tasked with analyzing increasingly large amounts of data from a growing number of sources," said Gerald Cohen, president and CEO of Information Builders. "The strong results Information Builders experienced in the first quarter of 2012 are testament to the fact that BI's popularity is indeed on the rise. In addition to the challenges of analyzing large data sets, more organizations are waking up to the value of extending data analysis capabilities externally, and I believe these two areas will be key drivers for industry growth in the year ahead."
