PORTLAND, Ore., June 14, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Cedar Mill Veterinary Hospital is working to expand access to online veterinary care resources. The Portland animal hospital recently launched a new website, http://www.cedarmillvet.com/, dedicated to the care of dogs and cats. Website features include a veterinary topics resource library, a video newsroom and Vetopedia. Pet owners who visit the website can also learn more about the treatment options available at Cedar Mill Veterinary Hospital, including pet acupuncture, vaccinations, pet senior care, and nutritional counseling.
Veterinarian Dr. Rick White announced that his practice, Cedar Mill Veterinary Hospital, has launched a new website to better serve pet owners. The website includes a special focus on preventative medicine, including wellness exams and at-home care.
"A major goal with the new website is to raise awareness about the importance of preventative medicine for dogs and cats," said Dr. White. "Our goal is to keep pets healthy and active throughout their lives. This starts with proper care as a puppy or kitten, including vaccinations, parasite prevention, nutritional counseling and behavioral counseling. The new website complements our mission to educate pet owners and raise awareness about the importance of wellness care."
First-time pet owners may learn more about preventative medicine by visiting the website's 'Veterinary Topics' resource library. This collection of articles includes tips for selecting the right pet, bringing a pet home, and integrating a pet into the family. These articles are designed to help new pet owners better understand the responsibilities of pet ownership, as well as how to provide the best at-home care possible.
The 'Veterinary Topics' library also includes information explaining the importance of regular wellness exams, vaccinations, and pet dental care. The Vetopedia explains common veterinary terms to pet owners. According to Dr. White, these resources are designed to educate pet owners and empower them to take an active role in their pets' care.
"Just like with humans, the best way to treat illness in pets is to address these problems before they even start," said Dr. White. "Pet owners who visit the website can learn more about our services and the difference they can make for their pets' overall well-being."
Dr. White will update the website's new blog with information on wellness care, including tips for brushing a pet's teeth, proper nutrition, and seasonal care. "Pet owners want the best for their pets, but oftentimes it can be difficult to know exactly what to do," said Dr. White. "Our new website addresses many common care concerns."
In addition to preventative care, Dr. White and his practice also provide soft tissue and pet orthopedic surgery, acupuncture and internal medicine. Pet owners may learn more about these specialized services on the vet clinic's website.
The animal hospital is fully accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA). The practice provides care for dogs and cats in the Cedar Mill, Cedar Hills, Beaverton, Forest Heights, and Northwest Portland communities. Pet owners may schedule a visit with the veterinarian by using the website's appointment request form.
