New and Improved: Mammoth Mountain's Adventure Center

New Bungee Trampoline, Beginner Mountain Bike Trails and Lift Highlight Improved Family Activity Hub

Mammoth Lakes, Calif., Aug. 7, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Mammoth Mountain's new and improved Adventure Center is now open. Catering to young outdoor enthusiasts, the Adventure Center features a new bungee trampoline, zip line, climbing wall, two new beginner mountain bike trails and a new chair lift to service the beginner Bike Park terrain.

"We've been working on building out the Adventure Center for the last couple years, and are really excited about what it's become," said Joani Lynch, Communications Director, Mammoth Mountain. "We wanted to create an experience for families that most importantly is just really fun. But we wanted to add some variety and activities that would appeal to different age groups and interests, to keep them active and engaged for more than just an hour or two. Judging by the laughs and giggles on the first weekend I think we've succeeded."

Highlighting what's new are trail additions to the acclaimed Mammoth Mountain Bike Park, which will appeal to new riders and add family fun. The first, Discovery Trail, opened last weekend and is ideal for new riders. It's a wider version of a single-track and winds through the woods with gentle turns, even a few on pavers. The trail opens up at the bottom and ends with a few bermed and banked turns.

The Adventure Trail is now also open and winds through trees and over whoop-de-doos, intending to be a stepping stone from Discovery Trail. The plan is for continued development of more progressive trails next year.

For only $29, the Mammoth Kids Adventure Pass gives kids 12 and under unlimited access to the zip line, climbing wall, bungee trampoline, mountain bike trails and a new chair that serves the beginner bike park trails. Adventure passholders also receive 15 percent off half-day or all-day child bike rental. Kids 12 and under also ride the Gondola free (two kids per paying adult) through the summer 2012 season. It's the perfect opportunity for kids to enjoy a spectacular outdoor playground set amid some of the country's most spectacular scenery.

Teenagers, their parents and grandparents also can have their day in the sun, thanks to $5 off a Mammoth Scenic Gondola Ride with a Reds Meadow/Devils Postpile shuttle ticket. Each Reds Meadow shuttle ticket is good for $5 off the regular $24 adult and $19 teen and senior Scenic Gondola Ride prices. With the discounted prices, adult tickets are only $19 and teen and senior tickets are only $14. The discount is good on the same day of the shuttle ride or the day afterward. Reds Meadow shuttle ticket must be turned in at time of Scenic Gondola Ride purchase to receive the discount.
