- DHL Global Forwarding's International Supply Chain expands their capabilities to help growing e-commerce industry
MIAMI, Aug. 22, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- DHL Global Forwarding, the air and ocean freight specialist within Deutsche Post DHL, announces it is ramping up its supply chain services to meet the changing demands for multi-channel supply chain fulfillment. In the last 12 months, DHL Global Forwarding's International Supply Chain (ISC) product experienced an increase of customer requests across the Americas, looking for a variety of fulfillment capabilities for their amplified e-commerce, mobile, and direct to consumer sales. ISC has been focusing on these new demands with its customized approach that includes multi-channel visibility, cutting-edge technology and value-added services, while building on DHL's existing global supply chain infrastructure.
"Our customers have requested a partner that can harmonize all their order fulfillment requirements on to one operating platform," said Ricardo Carrion, senior director Business Development ISC Latin America for DHL Global Forwarding. "DHL's ISC product team has designed solutions for a multitude of sectors that are cost efficient, extensive and geared toward the recent changes in consumer purchasing trends."
The retail industry and other industries, such as general consumer goods, technology, and machinery manufacturing, are requesting a supply chain provider who is flawless, prompt and offers competitive prices. Many customers are also looking for innovative fulfillment methods, value-added services at origin, distribution, and warehousing, among others. ISC was established to be a center of excellence linking customers' country of origin supply chains with their destination market requirements, centrally managed through a single point.
According to the "State of The Retail Supply Chain Report,1" during the 2011 holiday season, electronic commerce sales grew by more than 15 percent to $35.3 billion, with mobile commerce playing a growing role. The Report also states that as demand shifts from in-store to online and mobile methods, multi-channel fulfillment becomes more critical to the success of many retailers.
"Retail, as well as other industries, seek consistency, delivery options, and convenience for its customers at any point-of-order. We are expanding our capabilities to meet these needs, as well as help those new e-retailers navigate the supply chain and establish a distribution system that works most efficiently for them," said Jin Choi, director, Strategic Development and Marketing, ISC.
ISC currently offers the following services:
- Purchase order management
- Supplier management
- Origin logistics services
- Transport management
- Visibility and information management
- Supply chain consultancy
- Account management
- Account development
ISC has committed its service approach on building long term relationships with its customers. It provides a high level of sophistication in its services by offering customization, flexibility and cutting-edge technology regardless of region or point-of-order.
In 2009, ISC developed an IT platform, known as the Galaxy project, to become more flexible in its systems configuration, streamline processes and improve efficiencies. With the Galaxy tool, customers can securely create, access and manage their bookings online and see how many stock items are positioned across multiple supply chain locations.
