Amika Mobile's Amika Mobility Server (AMS) has been named an ASIS 2012 Accolades Finalist in relation to innovative technology addressing public safety and security. The automatic discovery of wired and wireless devices by AMS makes it ideal for public places like airports, sports arenas, and entertainment venues where people are not always pre-registered to receive alerts in case of emergencies. The auto-detection, management and alerting of emergency sensor events triggered from disparate physical security systems such as fire panels is another key capability of the AMS. In relation to this, Amika Mobile announces its completed integration with Edwards FireWorks™ as requested by its customers, this is an event-driven system for emergencies integrated with fire, life safety and property protection.
The drivers for the fire safety and security market include regulations such as the NFPA 72-2010 Fire Safety Act as well as heightened requirements for security and safety in all sectors. According to the National Fire Protection Association, the life safety services industry generates an estimated $12 billion in annual revenues in the US alone. Of this, $7 billion is in design, fabrication and installation; $3 billion is in repair, service, and inspection work; and $2 billion is in alarm and detection systems installation that include sensor event monitoring and alerting.
The AMS platform automatically delivers identified events to appropriate individuals, groups or en masse based on situational needs. Any event or group of events received by FireWorks™ may be delivered to designated individuals or groups on mobile or connected devices such as desktops or security monitoring stations. Other dynamic events that the AMS processes include card access under duress, exceeded temperature thresholds, detected camera motion, gas panel events, HVAC events, etc.
A demonstration of AMS will be shown at the ASIS 2012 Ontario Pavilion Booth # 531 and at the UTC Climate, Controls and Security booth #3401.
