CardinalCommerce Strengthens Intellectual Property Portfolio With International Patent Grant

Industry Leading Product Offerings Gain Additional Protection

MENTOR, Ohio, Sept. 26, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- CardinalCommerce, the world leader in enabling remote commerce (internet, mobile, etc.), announced that the Australian patent office has awarded patent number 2006207908, entitled System and Method for Conversion Between Internet and Non-Internet Based Transactions. This patent, which becomes Cardinal's 30th, protects a broad range of services including completing an authenticated transaction over an internet protocol (IP) network for an account holder engaged in a transaction via a non-IP based communications platform.

"A number of industry players and suppliers, including networks, payment brands, telephone carriers, mobile phone service providers and processors would benefit from the technology taught in this patent. There are plenty of opportunities for organizations that handle or process mobile or POS transactions to use this technology, as it is applicable for cloud-based and or centralized services, and especially for mobile wallets," said Chandra Balasubramanian, Chief Technology Officer of CardinalCommerce.

"For over ten years Cardinal has sought to create, strengthen, and grow their globally protective intellectual property portfolio, having the foresight to invest in their technology by protecting it through filings with patent offices worldwide. As a result, Cardinal's portfolio is broad, comprehensive and continually expanding," said Patrick R. Roche of Fay Sharpe LLP, a nationally prominent IP law firm. "These awards continue to show the scope of Cardinal's intellectual property holdings, especially internationally, and demonstrate the unique expertise Cardinal has in addressing the needs of the marketplace."

"We are excited because with this adds to our Cardinal SafeCloudTM capabilities," said Mike Keresman, Chief Executive Officer of Cardinal. "We believe commerce will continually expand to include a broader range of devices connected to conduct commerce and this technology provides a way for those devices to seamlessly complete a transaction.  Our intellectual property and established capabilities combine to provide the broadest range of services and help 'future proof' our Customers' needs."

Cardinal's patent portfolio now includes 30 issued patents and more than 60 patent applications pending.
