WAYNE, PA--(Marketwire - Oct 8, 2012) - Medecision, the leader in healthcare management solutions, today announced the appointment of Jerry Baker as senior vice president and general manager of a business unit focused on providing technology-based solutions to support clinical transformation and accountability for population health and outcomes across the continuum of care.
Over the past two years, Medecision has invested in technologies and piloted applications to help clients stand up value-based and accountable care health operations. Automated Benefit Services, Imperium Health Management, and ABQ Health Partners have recently selected its technology platform, joining other provider clients that use Medecision's care management and population management tools, health information exchange, and provider portal applications.
Accountability for outcomes takes many forms -- ranging from readmission penalties, to shared savings, to identification and management of high risk patients, to responsibility for total population cost of care. Medecision is committed to partnering with hospitals, physician groups, and other organizations at the front line of care to ensure success as they navigate these waters specific to their local markets.
Medecision's Aerial™ platform includes open, scalable applications that include care and case management, disease management, utilization management, provider and consumer (member) connectivity and engagement, population management, and wellness. Aerial has been successfully deployed to health plans, healthcare delivery systems, and physician group practices.
"The addition of Jerry to our senior leadership team is a critical step in our commitment to help risk-bearing organizations thrive by lowering costs and improving healthcare quality," said Deborah M. Gage, Medecision president and CEO. "Jerry brings an informed vision and a depth of experience in start-ups and established enterprises -- and broad healthcare technology expertise."
One of Baker's first initiatives will be to introduce value-based health solutions to organizations seeking growth strategies and an invested technology partner to help face the fundamental changes of healthcare reform.
Most recently, Baker served as president and chief executive officer of Halfpenny Technologies, an HIE provider offering a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) clinical solution integrating disparate hospital, laboratory, and EHR systems for physician groups, hospitals, and other provider organizations.
Earlier in his career, Baker held c-level positions at healthcare SaaS provider MRO Corporation and the medical coding compliance software company Info-X (acquired by 3M in 2004). Prior to that, he held executive posts with HIT integrator Tier Technologies, physician practice management firm Advanced Health Technologies, as well as claims processing software provider HealthWorks (now Passport Health Communications) Alliance, and First Data Corporation, the global transaction management firm. Before beginning his career in healthcare, Baker was a Marine, leaving five years of active-duty service with the rank of captain.
