FLAGSTAFF, AZ--(Marketwire - Oct 11, 2012) - Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center, an Arizona ophthalmology practice, has opened a new, state-of-the-art patient care facility in Flagstaff. The new location is the first in Flagstaff to offer bladeless LASIK in addition to other vision correction procedures, such as the Implantable Contact Lens, as well as cataract surgery and retina care.
By utilizing the ultra-fast IntraLase® laser instead of a metal blade to create the corneal flap for LASIK, the Barnet Dulaney Perkins eye surgeons can provide accurate and predictable results for LASIK patients. The IntraLase® laser has been used in millions of LASIK procedures worldwide, and studies have shown that more patients achieve better vision outcomes when it is used as part of their procedure. The surgeons say they can tailor the dimensions of each flap, including its thickness and diameter and the angle of its edges, based on what is best for each individual eye. They add that the ability to create such personalized flaps not only enhances outcomes, but also makes more patients eligible to undergo LASIK surgery.
The new Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center in Flagstaff is also the first in the area to be equipped with the Allegretto Wave® Eye-Q Laser, which is used to reshape the corneal tissue after the LASIK flap is created. According to David McGarey, MD, LASIK Surgeon of Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center in Flagstaff, "The Eye-Q laser can correct vision in as little as eight seconds and is the only LASIK technology that maintains the natural overall curvature of the cornea, which is important for preventing unwanted side-effects such as glare or poor night vision."
With the opening of the new Flagstaff facility, the surgeons say patients who live in Arizona's northern counties have access to a conveniently located full-service ambulatory surgery center. "All of the doctors at Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center are excited about the new facility," says LASIK surgeon David McGarey, MD. "The integration of innovative and effective procedures such as bladeless LASIK and comprehensive retina care backed by state-of-the-art imaging and surgical systems enables our patients in the Flagstaff area to achieve their best vision safely, comfortably and conveniently in the least amount of time."
The former Flagstaff office at 1030 North San Francisco has been closed and moved to the new 13,000-square-foot facility at 350 N. Switzer Canyon Dr.
