NEWTON, MA--(Marketwire - Nov 5, 2012) - The fourth annual North American Hotel and Tourism Investment Conference (NATHIC), scheduled for Nov. 28-29 at The Hamilton Crowne Plaza in Washington, D.C., is getting some tough love this year in the form of Anthony Melchiorri, host and star of Travel Channel's hit show, "Hotel Impossible."
Melchiorri, who also is president and founder of the New York-based consulting company Argeo Hospitality and is known for his hard-line style and hotel turnaround success stories, will keynote the two-day event, which is expected to attract an elite group of C-level hotel executives, lenders, investors, analysts, lobbyists and potential business partners.
The no-nonsense host has developed and repositioned some of the country's most high-profile properties during his 20-plus year hospitality career including the first Nickelodeon Hotel and Resort and the landmark Algonquin Hotel.
NATHIC, part of the International Hotel Investment Forum (IHIF) summit series, will focus on a wide range of critical issues including government policy changes needed to stimulate tourism, tax issues, case studies illustrating successful funding efforts and consumer spending trends.
Topics were identified by the newly appointed NATHIC Advisory Board, composed of a wide spectrum of prominent hotel owners, operators, franchisors, management companies, marketers and analysts who have the pulse on the North American hospitality and tourism scene.
Marilyn McHugh, who oversees the NATHIC show as vice president of global events for Questex Hospitality + Travel, said this year's event will allow for more interaction between attendees and encourage focused dialogue at formal networking events.
"NATHIC offers extraordinary opportunities to network among some of the industry's most influential leaders and senior-level investment professionals in an intimate setting," she said. "Combined with compelling panel discussions and presentations, NATHIC is a must-attend event of 2012."
McHugh said a key role of the board is to ensure that NATHIC focuses on topics that are immediately relevant to attendees. "We put the content in the hands of industry leaders and give them the power to determine what they want to accomplish and learn," she said.
The NATHIC board represents the Trump, Starwood, Hilton, La Quinta, Marriott, Wyndham and Choice hotel companies as well as senior leaders from Cornell University, Lodging Econometrics, Embassy Bank, Interstate Hotels & Resorts, Hospitality Real Estate Counselors, hotelAVE, Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau and Daly Gray Public Relations.
