Durham Veterinary Clinic Welcomes Two New Veterinarians to Staff

DURHAM, N.C., Feb. 10, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- New Hope Animal Hospital in Durham, NC announced that it has added two more veterinarians to their team in order to better accommodate the busy schedules of their pet patients. Durham veterinarian Dr. Soren Windram says that the two newest members to the team, Dr. Sara Cumbus and Dr. Christine Bush, have many years of experience in veterinary medicine, with concentrations in emergency vet care, surgery, pet dental care and educating pet owners about how to help their pets avoid health problems. According to Dr. Windram, the expanded Durham veterinary clinic team will now be able to offer pets more options in these areas of care.

Dr. Windram explains that while his Durham veterinary clinic was voted "Best Animal Hospital in Durham" by the Independent in 2012, it is the goal of the clinic to provide the same quality care year after year. "One of the challenges we faced was that the demand for our services was growing and we needed to grow with it. So after an extensive search for veterinarians that were up to par with our standards, we were thrilled to meet Dr. Cumbus and Dr. Bush. They have already proven to be outstanding additions to our team," he said. He adds that families now have more scheduling options for treating their companion animals with the expanded staff.

Dr. Sara Cumbus earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from North Carolina State University in 1993 and has been practicing since that time. Dr. Cumbus owned her own practice for some time before going back to NCSU, this time working in the emergency service at the teaching hospital at the College of Veterinary Medicine. She also volunteers with Turks and Caicos Veterinary Associates, a nonprofit group providing veterinary care for animals on those islands. Dr. Windram adds that Dr. Cumbus has provided relief services to many other clinics in the area, and that they were lucky to add her as a permanent member.

Dr. Windram says that Dr. Christine Bush worked as a chemist for nine years before deciding to pursue her love of pets through a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree (also from NCSU) which she earned in 2002. According to Dr. Windram, Dr. Bush is passionate about educating pet owners about animal health issues and is particularly skilled in the areas of general veterinary medicine and pet dental care. She lives in Wake Forest with three dogs and three cats, all of whom were rescued.

Dr. Windram says, "We are thrilled to have these new veterinarian on our team, and our patients love them already."
