Florida Injury Lawyers at Bernstein & Maryanoff Settle Slip and Fall Lawsuit for Injured Client

Specifically, this lawsuit was filed in the Circuit Court of the 16^th Judicial Circuit in and for Monroe County, Florida. It was assigned to the General Jurisdiction Division and it was given a case number of 12 CA 502P. The case was filed on behalf of an individual female plaintiff who was allegedly injured while lawfully on the property of the defendant, a Florida corporation.

According to the court documents, the plaintiff had already suffered from a back condition that resulted in the requirement of ongoing pain management. On or about October 11, 2010, the plaintiff was legally on the premises of the defendant when she encountered a set of steps that had become wet and slippery. The plaintiff attempted to use those steps but slipped and fell on them. As a result of this fall, the plaintiff allegedly suffered serious injuries that included an aggravation of her existing back injury. 

The Florida injury attorneys at Bernstein & Maryanoff filed the lawsuit in response to this alleged incident and the pleadings related to the case sought damages that would compensate the plaintiff for the medical costs she incurred, the lost income she suffered and the pain and suffering that she had endured. 

In pursuit of these damages, the attorneys at Bernstein & Maryanoff asserted in the court documents that the defendant was legally responsible for the safe upkeep of the property in question and that the defendant negligently failed to do so such that this negligence caused the injuries suffered by the plaintiff. 

Rather than litigate the matter, the two sides were able to come together and successfully negotiate an out-of-court settlement that provided compensation to the plaintiff. Per an agreement between the parties, the specific terms of this settlement are being kept confidential and the matter is now considered closed by those involved.
