DENVER, CO--(Marketwire - Mar 6, 2013) - In celebration of World Water Day, Ecotech Institute will host a free community event on Saturday, March 23. Families are invited to come learn about water conservation and participate in activities for all ages. Ecotech Institute, located off of I-225 and Mississippi in Aurora, will host the event with a lineup of special guests, a kids' art show and activities, door prizes and a live remote by KTCL (93.3 FM). The event runs from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
World Water Day is officially March 22, celebrated around the globe by individuals, organizations and entire countries acknowledging the importance of our planet's precious resource. In Colorado, water conservation is extremely important as we continue to face drought conditions. Ecotech Institute, which trains people for careers in cleantech industries, is passionate about community education for a wide variety of sustainability-related topics.
Aurora Water's extremely knowledgeable conservation specialists Lyle Whitney and Zach Versluis will be present. They will host a 30-minute demo for people to learn tips about how to xeriscape a lawn and answer questions at the Aurora Water Conservation Booth. Also, Sonne Shields, the current titleholder for HGTV's All American Handyman, will demonstrate ways to conserve around your home.
In addition, local kids can participate in a "What does water mean to you?" art show, where the top three artists will receive awards. Open to kids of all ages; visit www.ecotechinstitute.com/waterday for the entry form and directions. All art will be displayed at the festival and will be posted on www.ecotechinstitute.com.
