Author Patricia Daly-Lipe revisits Paris between the wars and discovers a history that has never been told

New York, NY, March 12, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Hidden in the City of Light are dark secrets of the past, but Patricia Daly-Lipe sees with her intuition. Driven by a burning desire to learn more about her deceased mother, she embarked on a personal journey lasting 14 years that culminated in the novel A Cruel Calm: Paris Between the Wars. Set in 1927, A Cruel Calm follows the footsteps of Patricia's mother as she weaves her own adventure and encounters historical figures such as James Joyce, who lived in the apartment directly above her, as well as Joseph Campbell, Earnest Hemingway, and lady pilots Bessie Coleman and Amelia Earhart. In wanting to understand her mother's past, Patricia has paved the way for readers to discover and embrace their own parents.

As an author, artist, animal lover and public speaker, Patricia constantly seeks to find meaning in her life and inspires us all to unlock the mysteries buried deep within ourselves. Curious and insightful, Patricia has a true philosopher's spirit and has adopted a questioning attitude. Describing herself as "bi-coastal", she was born and raised in La Jolla, California and currently resides on a horse farm in Virgina, where she and her husband Steele rescue and find safe havens for horses.  Patricia has authored several publications, including Messages from Nature; Myth, Magic and Metaphor: A Journey into the Heart of Creativity; La Jolla: A celebration of its Past; All Alone: Washington to Rome; A Cruel Calm: Paris Between the Wars; and most recently The Patriot Priest. As an artist, she creates both figurative and abstract images, extracting each image from the paint as if it were already there. A perpetual work-in-progress, Patricia exemplifies why self-re-invention is so revitalizing.
