MIOX Exhibits at SPE Oilfield Chemistry Symposium

New Technology for Safe & Chemical Free Produced and Flowback Water Recycling

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., April 3, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- MIOX Corporation, the industry leader in on-site chemical generation technology, announces it will showcase a new technology for produced and flowback water disinfection at the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) International Symposium on Oilfield Chemistry in The Woodlands, TX on April 8th and 9th, 2013.

The new process developed by MIOX provides drilling operators with an alternative to biocides. Utilizing only salt, water and electricity, MIOX Mixed Oxidant Solution (MOS) technology creates a safe and chemical free disinfectant at the well-site. This strong, yet environmentally benign disinfectant is effective at microorganism and SBR control, and can treat water in oil and gas operations at the lowest cost per barrel.

"MIOX systems are optimized for the oil and gas industry in order to keep pace with frac operations and varying water quality. Because mixed oxidant complies with established EPA drinking water standards, operators are utilizing a safe chemistry," said Charles Mowrey, MIOX Oil & Gas Specialist.  "There are no potential air quality or surface spill safety issues associated with on-site electrochemical generation of mixed oxidants."

About MIOX Corporation

MIOX designs and manufactures systems that provide on-demand disinfection chemistry, eliminating the need to transport hazardous chemicals and reducing carbon footprint. MIOX systems are used in multiple applications through a wide range of products, cost-effectively producing disinfection chemistry from 1.0 to 3,000 pounds per day FAC (free available chlorine). With this flexibility, the applications for potential use of MIOX systems ranges from large industrial cooling towers, water and wastewater treatment, and frac fluid disinfection to clean-in-place and dairy farm applications.
