WASHINGTON, May 21, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- NeighborWorks America will move its national headquarters to 999 North Capitol St. in the NoMa neighborhood May 28. NeighborWorks employees will celebrate the move by participating in a day of service at the nearby Walker Jones Education Campus on May 23. Staff will landscape and help cultivate an urban farm while providing other services to support the campus, which includes a Pre-K-8 school, community center, and public library. NeighborWorks America, which creates opportunities for people to live in affordable homes, improve their lives and strengthen their communities, supports a network of more than 235 nonprofits, located in every state, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. Manna, Inc. is a NeighborWorks organization located in the District of Columbia.
The event will occur at Walker Jones Education Campus located at 1125 New Jersey Ave, NW, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm in partnership with HandsOn Greater DC Cares, the leading and largest coordinator of volunteerism in the region. The campus is located just blocks from NeighborWorks America's new DC office.

Notably, the new building is certified LEED Silver, and NeighborWorks America followed specific procedures to ensure the corporation earned a LEED Silver certification. The steps included energy and water use reduction; and using recycled content in materials, certified wood, and low-emitting materials for indoor air quality.
