Newly Created Organization to Heighten Customer Focus and Further Strengthen Customer Support and Service Offerings


BILLERICA, Mass., May 22, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- American Science and Engineering, Inc., ("AS&E") (Nasdaq:ASEI) a leading worldwide provider of threat and contraband X-ray detection solutions, announced today the appointment of Mike Tropeano as Vice President, Customer Development and Support, to lead the Company's newly created organization and join the executive management team. The new customer-facing organization will include Global Sales, Field Service, and Customer Program Management functions to better address the needs of AS&E's global customer base and further support sales growth strategies.

Prior to that, he served in several different capacities in product management including the position of Vice President, Z Backscatter™ Systems, where his team successfully grew the ZBV® product line into the number one selling cargo and vehicle screening system on the market.
