Veolia Transportation Awarded Texas State University Contract for Campus Shuttles

Company Will Provide 43 New Eldorado Buses for New Services in Fall 2014


SAN MARCOS, Texas, May 30, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Ken Westbrook, President and COO for Veolia's Transit Division announced this week that the company will operate campus shuttle service for Texas State University (TXST), after being awarded the contract in a competitive bid process. The service, the Bobcat Tram (BT), makes nearly 3.5 million passenger trips annually and is funded predominantly from student bus fees.

The contract duration is seven years with one three-year option. Under the terms of the contract Veolia will provide 43 Eldorado 40 foot buses and will be responsible for all operations and maintenance including the university's two existing buses. The company will also provide a bus and maintenance facility. This two acre facility will feature a 5,000 square foot office and maintenance building, wash bay, fueling station and space for parking. Construction is expected to be completed in late spring 2014.

Veolia's contract takes affect mid-June 2013 with full service start in August 2014.
