Austin Veterinarian Joins Emergency Animal Hospital Staff

AUSTIN, Texas, June 2, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Emergency Animal Hospital of Northwest Austin (EAHNWA) in Austin, TX announced that veterinarian Dr. Chelsea Pearce, DVM has joined the animal hospital's staff. Dr. Pearce, a graduate of the College of Veterinary Medicine at Texas A&M University, joined the Austin emergency vet hospital following her graduation in 2012. Dr. Pearce provides emergency veterinary care services for dogs and cats.

"We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Pearce to our emergency vet clinic," said Austin veterinarian Dr. Scott Johnson. "Dr. Pearce is a rising veterinary star, and we are excited to have her as part of our team. We were impressed with her performance at A&M, and we are confident that any pet that Dr. Pearce treats will receive the best care possible."

Dr. Pearce's main area of interest is emergency surgery. As part of the EAHNWA team, Dr. Pearce performs many common surgical procedures, including treating pets for trauma, gastric torsion (a twisted stomach), and foreign body emergencies.

"I am excited to be part of EAHNWA and contribute to the emergency vet hospital's important mission in the greater Austin community," said Dr. Pearce. "Veterinary emergencies can strike at any time, and EAHNWA provides critical after-hours care for pets in need."

Dr. Pearce joins an experienced team of veterinarians who are passionate about emergency animal care. This team includes Dr. Johnson, who was recently elected president of the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society (VECCS). Dr. Johnson purchased the north emergency hospital in 1986 and opened the south location for EAHNWA in 1997 where he currently serves as the hospital's chief of staff.

In addition to Dr. Johnson and Dr. Pearce, EAHNWA has more than a dozen dedicated veterinarians on staff for emergency services.

"A veterinary emergency can be stressful and frightening for both pets and their owners," said Dr. Pearce. "When every minute matters, our advanced veterinary care services can truly make the difference between life and death. I'm proud to be part of EAHNWA team, which is at the forefront of cutting-edge emergency vet care."

When Dr. Pearce is not providing emergency care to pets, the Austin veterinarian enjoys spending time with her husband, two children and two loveable Boxers named Duke and Bentley. Dr. Pearce also enjoys music and traveling.

EAHNWA employs the latest diagnostic technology, including advanced ultrasound imaging, along with high-tech surgical suites, an onsite pharmacy, and in-house lab for responsive emergency care.

After-hours emergency care is available seven days per week at the emergency vet hospital. Pet owners may learn more about emergency vet care services by visiting http://www.eahnwa.com/.
