The Pocket Poppet is an open drape front cardigan that folds into a self-attached pouch (patent pending) for storage while on the go. The Pocket Poppet idea was born during a casual conversation over coffee between friends Helen Tyler and Karen Krolow, of H&K The Poppet Co., who decided to create a convenient and stylish garment for changes in temperature like air conditioned restaurants, malls, and movie theaters. Out of a casual conversation sparked a solution, The Pocket Poppet, that now comes in two styles and eight colors.
The cardigan folds into its attached water repellent, tear proof, nylon ripstop protective pouch which features a small interior credit card/ID pocket and wrist strap for carrying. The interior pouch, which is invisible when worn, also doubles as an internal pocket that is useful to store small personal items, providing a hands-free solution while the cardigan is being worn. The pouch is also compact enough to fit inside handbags, luggage, or glove boxes.
"We knew from our own experiences that an item like this didn't exist on the market. The cardigan I kept in my handbag was always getting messy and stained. Now with The Pocket Poppet neither of those is an issue," said co-founder and owner Helen Tyler. "Also, any product out there that was compact enough to travel with wasn't comfortable or appropriate to wear whilst traveling or dining in a nice restaurant," added Tyler.
The cardigans come in sizes ranging from extra small to extra large, and in two styles: The Classic Poppet and The Lotus Poppet. The Classic Poppet, made for all occasions, is created from USA-made soft, high quality rayon and spandex for easy wrinkle release. It is available in six colors: black noir, sapphire blue, rich plum, red wine, au naturel, and heathered grey. The Lotus Poppet, perfect for the yoga studio or gym, is made of an imported bamboo rayon, cotton, and spandex blend, and comes in two colors: soft black and charcoal. Bamboo naturally has wonderful wicking properties and is partially antimicrobial -- two attributes that are great for humid climates and changes in temperature.
The pouch on both styles falls in the small of the back and cannot be detected while the cardigan is being worn. Although the Pocket Poppet may wrinkle somewhat when packed, the wrinkles fall out relatively easily with body heat. What makes a Pocket Poppet a great travel piece is the fact that it is so comfortable, convenient, and multi-functional; it can be worn during the day with a casual outfit, kept in your purse, and then dressed up for a night out.
