VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - June 17, 2013) - A call was issued today for the seventh annual BC Creative Achievement Awards for First Nations' Art. The deadline for submissions is July 10, 2013.
The award, administered by the BC Achievement Foundation and generously sponsored by Polygon, provides four awards valued at $2,500 each. This year, for the first time, entrants can provide their submission online. Artists, including carvers, printmakers, weavers, jewellers, painters, and media artists, working in either traditional or contemporary First Nations' art are eligible. Submissions are permitted from either the artists themselves or from nominators. To be eligible, artists must be affiliated with a BC First Nation.
Among the artists whose work has been honoured over the last several years are:
Philip Janze, Gitxsan; Stan Bevan, Tsimshian/Tahltan/Tlingit; Lisa Hageman, Haida;
Richard Sumner, Kwakwaka'wakw; Barbara P. Marchand, Okanagan Nation; Susan Point, Coast
Salish and William White, Tsimshian.
