PHOENIX, AZ--(Marketwired - Jun 27, 2013) - The Arizona Lottery announces that a $1 million Powerball second prize winning ticket was sold in Tucson for the $40 million jackpot draw on Wednesday, June 26. This is the 25th $1 million Powerball second prize winning ticket sold in Arizona.
The winning ticket was sold at the Corner Store located at 2088 W. Orange Grove Road in Tucson. The winning numbers were 1 - 18 - 33 - 39 - 46 PB 33. The winning ticket matched five out of five numbers drawn, not including the Powerball. Players can check their tickets by visiting ArizonaLottery.com.
"We are thrilled that Arizona is one of two states that sold a $1 million Powerball second prize winning ticket for Wednesday's draw," said Karen Bach, director of budget, products and communications for the Arizona Lottery. "Reaching 25 Powerball second-prize winners is a significant milestone for Arizona. We are excited that the number of new millionaires statewide is continuing to grow, and we only expect that trend to continue."
Powerball offers many appealing features to players, including better overall odds and jackpots that grow bigger, faster. The starting jackpot is $40 million and the second prize for matching all five numbers, without the Powerball, is $1 million.
In fact, there have been more than 10,000 Powerball winners in Arizona this week alone. This includes a $10,000 winning ticket for last night's draw, which was purchased at a Circle K located at 1153 S. Signal Butte Road in Mesa.
The increase in Powerball sales and wins in Arizona also means more money being returned to important state programs. Arizona Lottery dollars are allocated to fund a wide variety of public projects and programs throughout Arizona that fall under four main pillars: education, health & public welfare, economic & business development and the environment.
The next Powerball draw is Saturday, June 29, for an estimated $50 million jackpot. Tickets can be purchased at any Arizona Lottery retailer.
Players must be 21 years or older to purchase or redeem tickets. Winners have 180 days from the drawing date to claim their prize at an Arizona Lottery office or by mail. Overall odds vary by game. All sales are final. In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, these materials may be made available in an alternate format. Gambling Problem? Call 1.800.NEXT STEP.
