"Amanda is the love of my life, I've known this since we met in HS, and am so proud to now call her my wife!" stated Rachel. "We're thrilled to be a part of such a historic movement in this country and look forward to the recognition of marriage equality across the US."
Their wedding takes place during a historic time for the LGBT community with yesterday's Supreme Court victory over DOMA. The victory means the federal government must recognize the marriages of gay and lesbian couples married in the 12 states that allow same-sex marriage, plus the District of Columbia, and give them the same benefits that they had been previously denied under the struck-down law, the Defense of Marriage Act (or DOMA)
Carlo's Bakery will be providing the wedding cake. The Out NYC Hotel, the first gay hotel in NYC, will provide a one-night stay for the couples wedding night. Delux Transportation will provide limousine service. The ceremony at PrideFest will be officiated by Celebrant Kim Kirkley. Catering will be provided by Markie B's Jamaican Cuisine of East Elmhurst, N.Y. Wedding Attire will be designed by fashion designer Mah-Jing Wong, music by Touch of Class DJ, wedding rings provided by Unusual Wedding Rings And More, Marriage Equality Photography will provide wedding photography, Treasured Memories.tv will provide wedding video and Cress Floral Decorators will donate floral arrangements. In addition, NüVo Condoms will be donating $1,000 to the couple to be put towards the honeymoon of their choice.
Ortiz and Murphy have also registered at Target who made headlines last year when they aired a wedding registry commercial featuring a same-sex couple. Everyone is welcome to send gifts on this special occasion, and the couple's registry can be found here: http://www.target.com/wedd/registry/THbvkVpcf8BSTkTtWRdbVg.
