PRINCETON JUNCTION, N.J., July 30, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Smart Card Alliance Government Conference, known as the leading event for ID security, is returning to Washington, D.C. this October with comprehensive coverage of efforts toward strong authentication technology in government identity programs. The 12th annual conference will feature industry leaders speaking on PIV1 credentials, developments in the NSTIC2 initiative, trusted ID on mobile devices, developments in state and local ID programs, advancements in health IT security, and global trends in secure identification.

The event will kick off on October 15 with special keynote presentations and executive roundtable discussions on the shifting technology involving digital identities and the policies involving applications in government and commercial access and security.
Attendees will be able to choose among multiple identification, security technology, and policy track panels to create their own customized conference experience. Conference speakers, panels, and roundtable discussions will cover the latest identity management and security trends affecting government and commercial security programs, including mobile credentials, healthcare, cybersecurity, and international e-government programs. The conference will feature expanded coverage of initiatives that will see major progress in the next year:
- NSTIC
NSTIC is a public/private effort to develop an identity ecosystem that will permit individuals to obtain a secure credential to authenticate themselves for a variety of online transactions. The Smart Card Alliance received extensive strategic guidance from the Identity Ecosystem Steering Group (IDESG) during recent efforts to ramp up this year's program. Conference sessions and special events will provide an invaluable update on this initiative, established by NIST and involving many business and government organizations in the U.S. and internationally.
- Healthcare ID and Secure Electronic Medical Records
Following recent government efforts to extend standards and policies for electronic health records and to establish health information exchanges, the conference features an expanded agenda for the healthcare sector. Smart health ID cards provide a privacy-sensitive, secure solution with significant benefits to healthcare providers, insurers and patients. Conference sessions will reflect and amplify the industry-leading work of the Smart Card Alliance Healthcare and Identity Councils.

- CSCIP & CSCIP/G Training & Certification Exam (Oct 14 & 16)
A full-day training and exam preparation course for the Certified Smart Card Industry Professional(CSCIP) and government-oriented CSCIP/G certifications.
