TokBox Launches WebRTC Support for Google Chrome 29 and Chrome for Android

Extends WebRTC Capability on Web and Mobile

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Aug 21, 2013) - TokBox, a Telefónica Digital company, today announced that their OpenTok on WebRTC platform now supports Chrome 29 for the desktop and Chrome for Android.

TokBox, with its industry leading OpenTok on WebRTC platform, powers enterprise-grade WebRTC video communications for businesses and developers around the world.

In addition to supporting WebRTC's native P2P standard, OpenTok provides a range of application development and management capabilities in the Cloud. OpenTok's Mantis cloud-scaling infrastructure enables multi-party calling, bandwidth controls and scaling as well as dynamic traffic-shaping for audio and video-quality.

TokBox's Cloud Raptor SDK adds management capabilities to OpenTok applications, letting enterprises create a centralized controller that can listen to, query and respond to messages and events flowing through the application.

Ian Small, CEO of TokBox, said: "WebRTC is a standard on the rise, paving the road for barrier-free real time communications. Google's continued innovation with Chrome 29, combined with TokBox's real-time support for any new WebRTC endpoint, fuels the rapid adoption of WebRTC by making the standard more easily accessible, and most importantly, interoperable. "

"WebRTC isn't perfect yet. While it is incredibly powerful, equally important is the innovation being done by the ecosystem around the base standard to enable commercially-viable solutions for businesses. Whether that means supporting all possible endpoints, providing globally distributed infrastructure or assisting companies with industry-specific solutions, TokBox is doing all that with our OpenTok Platform," Small said.

OpenTok has been used by more than 70,000 organizations to add live face to face communications to their websites, including MTV, American Idol, Major League Baseball, Diet Coke, Ford, Doritos, Bridgestone and Double Robotics. Last month TokBox released OpenTok for Customer Service, providing a pre-configured set of tools so anyone can build live video into an enterprise customer service application.
