College for Financial Planning Partners With 'Behavior Gap' Author Carl Richards to Award 20 Full Scholarships

CENTENNIAL, CO--(Marketwired - Aug 28, 2013) - The College for Financial Planning (CFFP), the nation's premier financial planning education institution, has partnered with noted author, columnist and Certified Financial Planner™ professional Carl Richards to offer 20 full scholarships to CFFP's rigorous and highly acclaimed Foundations in Financial Planning(SM) program.

Those interested in applying for one of the 20 scholarships worth $1,140 should submit either a short, two-minute video or a 500-word essay explaining why they are interested in the program, what they hope to learn and who they plan to help with the information they learn. "The College's Foundations in Financial Planning(SM) is widely regarded as one of the country's best programs for people interested in better understanding both the theory and practice of financial planning," said Richards. "I am very excited to make these scholarships available, and I especially encourage those considering the financial planning industry as a career and finance journalists and bloggers looking to improve their understanding of financial theory to apply."

CFFP's intensive, 10-week Foundations in Financial Planning(SM) program is designed for frontline employees in the financial services industry. The program gives students a basic, practical knowledge of the financial planning process by introducing them to different product categories, essential terminology, and general concepts applicable to financial planning through a curriculum based on a client-centered, problem-solving method.

"Carl Richards' passion is helping make complex financial issues easy to understand," said CFFP President John Sears. "We're honored to work with Carl to give members of his community a chance to participate in our highly regarded program."
