AMSTERDAM, Netherlands, Sept. 12, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- IBC - Rovi Corporation (Nasdaq:ROVI), driving digital entertainment innovation, today announced that TongFang Global, a leading manufacturer of consumer electronics in China, will adopt DivX Plus Streaming™ into its digital TVs for the European and US market. The integration of Rovi's advanced adaptive streaming format advances the consumer digital entertainment experience, enabling the high-quality playback of protected premium content.
"DivX Plus Streaming offers unique advantages that enable our consumers to enjoy high-quality streaming entertainment on their DTVs in the comfort of their own homes," said the CTO of TongFang Global. "In working with Rovi and selecting DivX Plus Streaming, TongFang Global is well-positioned to evolve with growing consumer entertainment needs."

To help eliminate buffering or the "spinning wheel", DivX Plus Streaming includes Dynamic Resolution Scaling, which provides smooth and seamless transitions between different resolutions. Dynamic Resolution Scaling helps consumers enjoy quick start times and continuous play even in low or fluctuating bandwidth environments.
"Rovi is pleased with to be working with TongFang Global in powering the delivery of high-quality digital entertainment into the consumer's home," said Bob Shallow, SVP, product sales & marketing at Rovi. "DivX Plus Streaming continues to garner traction with top manufacturers in China and across the globe, which is further testament to Rovi's video technology and our commitment to delivering breakthrough entertainment experiences."
DivX Plus Streaming has gained the support of integrated circuit (IC) vendors, consumer electronics device manufacturers and studios. The advanced adaptive streaming format is also rapidly gaining the support of entertainment service providers on a worldwide basis. DivX Plus Streaming has been adopted by Dixons, Sainsbury's and Media Markt in Europe, and selected by Mei-ah, a film production company in China that recently launched an on-demand entertainment offering for mobile users in collaboration with China Mobile (Hong Kong).
