WASHINGTON, Oct. 30, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GWHCC) and Events DC will host their Fifth Annual Embassy Celebration Dinner Series on Tuesday, November 19th at the Carnegie Library at Mount Vernon Square. This year, the Chamber will present the Public Service Award to the Embassy of Mexico in recognition of the embassy's work and support of the growth of the Washington, DC region's Hispanic businesses and the incredible partnership with the GWHCC.
"As an organization that supports the economic development of Hispanic owned businesses in the Washington metropolitan area, we have a profound belief in the importance of strong and successful relationships between our local community and the countries of Latin America," stated Angela Franco, President and CEO of the GWHCC. "This year the Embassy of Mexico has worked hand in hand with the Chamber to strengthen those relationships."
During the last four years, the Chamber has honored Latin American leaders and organizations that make a difference in international trade and commercial affairs in the Western Hemisphere. "The Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce received this year several awards, including Chamber of the Year (mid-size) by the US Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, in recognition of our organization's leading work to help advance the Hispanic business community in the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area. The Embassy Celebration Dinner complements the Chamber's efforts at an international level," commented Mario Acosta-Velez, GWHCC Chairman.
Last year, Ambassador Roberto Saladin, Permanent Representative of the Dominican Republic to the OAS, was awarded for his leadership in the Western Hemisphere on democracy and human rights, education and economic development especially among Hispanics in the US and Latin America.
Chiqui Cartagena, Vice President of Corporate Marketing at Univision Communications, marketing pioneer and well-known author will serve as the Embassy Celebration Dinner's keynote speaker.
