Lubrizol Takes Steps toward Excipient-grade Thermoplastic Polyurethane for Drug Delivery Systems
GMP implementation is underway at Lubrizol Advanced Materials' Wilmington, MA plant
CLEVELAND, November 6, 2013 -The Lubrizol Corporation is demonstrating its commitment to the healthcare industry by announcing the development of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)-grade thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) polymers appropriate for consideration in novel drug delivery products. US FDA drug master files and support for drug regulatory submissions will be made available for these polymers.
As the industry considers innovative drug delivery methods, Lubrizol TPUs can be used for reservoir and matrix-type systems for intravaginal, subcutaneous or oral delivery applications. Sample quantities of Lubrizol's TPU are currently available for evaluation. Production quantities manufactured under GMP will be available in early 2014.
